Local female artists bare their souls for the "art"..

Yesterday Bomu hosted the first ever Miss Bomu 2012.. Millenium Jazz Club was filled!! I was shocked.. Where did everyone come from? I mean not so many people were tweeting about it. I thought that a mention, an RT and a twitter shout-out about an event was the only thing that meant that people will come. Kana it's true what they say...sometimes we tweet, "I'm hitting Primi," when we are in fact under the blankets drinking water for supper?
Anyway, the local artists strutted their stuff. It was humbling to see people humble themselves enough to walk on stage for the "art." It was like the baring of the soul. My top 6 would have been different though but the judges' decisions are final. Popular musicians Slizer, Mercy M, Winnie and Jojo made it to the top 6.. Judges explained that the top 6's choosing was greatly influenced by the participants' performance criteria which shifted most of the weight of the marks to the more popular and experienced musicians..
The event was thronged by well-known residents of Gaborone. Amongst them the Assistant Minister of Trade formerly with the Ministry of Education, Sesame Mosweu, formerly with Yarona FM and currently making a movement in the media industry, Mercy Thebe, the force behind Limkokwing Botswana, reigning Miss Universe Botswana while Zenzele of Zen Promotions thrilled the crowd with her eloquent MC'ing skills. Shanti-Lo was also present.. :) I saw many more movers and shakers of Botswana. I didn't see anyone from Pitsane.. Sad.
Berry Heart was crowned Miss Bomu. The poet who records most of her material in Germany was oozing with confidence. And I got to see a white person with many tattoos like we see on TV up-close. He was backing Berry White..
